Meru National Park is a prominent wildlife reserve located in Kenya, East Africa. It was established in 1966 and covers an area of approximately 870 square kilometers. The park is situated in the eastern part of Kenya, about 350 kilometers (220 miles) from Nairobi, the capital city.
Meru is still one of the least visited of Kenyaโs big parks. It has game viewing which now easily matches or exceeds the sort of safari experience youโll have in popular parks such as Tsavo West or Tsavo East, with increasingly frequent sightings of all the โBig Fiveโ, plus cheetah and numerous other savannah species. And its handful of camps and lodges includes the exceptionally beautiful Elsaโs Kopje and two boutique, riverside safari camps (both with swimming pools) โ Rhino River Camp and Offbeat Meru.
